Learning outcomes

After completing this module successfully you will have a wide knowledge of organizational, planning, and legal aspects of design and will be able to use this in your own design work. You will be capable of conceptualizing, planning, documenting, and presenting complex design processes. You will be familiar with the relevant areas of contract and immaterial property laws. You will also be able to assess the roles of participating partners and service providers.

Module content

Legal regulations relevant to design: foundations of the legal system, contract law, patents and copyright, trade mark, design, and utility protection. Conceptual, pragmatic, and planning aspects of design practice; context analysis, context planning, ideation, design and problem-solving methods, personnel planning, allocation of time and resources, managing information and risk, planning and communicating for quality within a design team.
