Prof. Michael Burke
Professor at the University since 1986. Born in 1944, he studied at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design.
Between 1969 and 1973 he worked in design and architectural offices and in 1972 was a member of Otl Aicher's design team for the Munich Olympic Games. A freelance designer and guest lecturer at the Central School and at Ravensbourne from 1973-78, in 1978-89 he took part in many design projects such as the "HfG Synopse", exhibitions for the British Council, and worked for the office of Sir Norman Foster. As a senior lecturer at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design he was a guest lecturer at Ohio State University in 1980 and 1983. Since 1985 he has been a member of Associate Design Group 8vo and an editor of Octavo international.
His exhibitions include "British Design", Boymans - van Beuningen Museum Rotterdam, "Octavo International Typography Magazine", Peter Brattinga Galerie Amsterdam, "Visual Engineering", Hochschule für Gestaltung, Offenbach, and "Boymans - van Beuningen Museum Rotterdam, Corporate Image", 8vo, and he has published in many professional journals.
