Prof. Willnauer joined the University in 1997. He teaches product design and specializes in the development of products and product systems in sociological and ecological contexts. He studied industrial design in Brunswick, Germany and Long Beach, USA.
He worked for frogdesign USA for four years, and also for DesignbüroThat in San Francisco, designing products for Apple Macintosh. He founded and ran Goods in Berkeley, a product development and distribution office with its own furniture and lighting programme for 5 years.
He is an Adjunct Professor at the California College of Arts and Crafts and a guest lecturer at the Cranbrook Academy and Stanford University.
