Exchange students

You are an exchange Student if your university is one of our partners. If it is not the case, please refer to the section international students!

Admission Requirements and Procedures

Incoming students must be selected by their home institution and the HfG must be officially notified by the International Office or Erasmus Coordinator of the students which they have selected to send to the HfG. The admission decision will be made by the faculties within five weeks.

The student is required to fill the following forms and send it to Claire Garnier per email (only!):
- application form
- Learning agreement (list of courses chosen- only for Erasmus students)
- cv and covering letter
- portfolio (all formats accepted)
- passport picture
- copy of passport / ID

Our professors will advise the students about the most appropriate courses during the introduction week.

Deadlines for Applications and Learning Agreements

The home institution has to nominate its student(s) by 15th October for the summer semester and by 15th April for the winter semester.

The deadlines for incoming students to register for an exchange semester is 1st November for the following summer semester and 1st May for the following winter semester. The same deadlines apply to Learning Agreements. Please use the standard ECTS/Learning Agreement student application form.

Courses available to exchange students

As an exchange student, you have the possibility to enroll in one of those programs:
- BA Product design

You can find more infos about each program by clicking on it. Nonetheless the list is not exhaustive and it's possible that some changes might occur during the welcome week.

At the HfG, you have the possibility to mix classes. For example, if your major is in product design, you can also take classes from communication and interaction design as a minor, only on the condition that your university agrees.

European students under the frame of Erasmus+ program need to complete their learning agreement. Please refer to each departmental coordinator:
- Prof. Matthias Held for product design
- Prof. Daniel Utz for communication design
- Prof. Hartmut Bohnacker for interaction design
