Learning outcomes

After completing this module successfully you will have knowledge of the fundamental methods and strategies of planning, applications, and the utilization of tracking technologies and mechatronics as an extension of the previous design fields. You will have acquired fundamental knowledge of the engineering sciences as a foundation for making their own prototypes and for communication with engineers and computer scientists. You will know the relevant technological aspects to enable them to make decisions and act during the development of 'intelligent' product systems at the interface between real and virtual worlds. You will know about the historical development and can appreciate the current status of technology.

History of the development and application areas of tracking technologies, augmented and virtual technology. Tracking technology tools (local and global) including eye-tracking and eyewear. Interfaces between CAD software and mechatronics. Foundations of mechatronics, robotics, and physical computing.
