Information for Companies

The HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd contributes in many ways to the intensification of knowledge transfer in the fields of communication, interaction and product design, for example through corporate cooperation within the framework of research projects or research contracts, through strategic partnerships with companies, through study projects and the establishment of a practical semester in the undergraduate degree programs.

Partnerships

The HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd cooperates with a number of companies and research institutions in its research and development projects. The cooperation promotes the transfer of knowledge into application and leads to the development of innovative and user-friendly solutions and products.

The university has entered into strategic partnerships with Carl Zeiss Meditec AG and Paul Hartmann AG. They aim at a continuous cooperation in the field of system and product design. In this context, the usability of new care products or surgical workplace solutions is also examined from an ergonomic point of view.

Cooperations

The transfer of research and development issues from corporate practice to teaching and research and the transfer of new scientific findings from research to practice are critical problems for the development of innovative products and systems. The HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd contributes to the intensification of this knowledge transfer through company cooperation: through research projects, research assignments, final theses or semester projects.

Forms of Cooperation

Semester projects
Up to twelve students work on a design task. In one semester, up to seven solutions are developed.

Final projects
One or two students work on a special problem. The result is a well-founded solution or design draft.

Contract research
A research team investigates a specific problem using scientific methods.

Research projects
A research team uses scientific methods to investigate a specific topic or issue and develops concrete results or implementable solutions.

Services
Researchers, employees or professors prepare expert reports, act as consultants or conduct training courses.

Internships

A practical semester is an essential part of the education at the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd. The internship lasts 26 weeks and must be successfully completed before admission to the 6th semester. This practical work experience in companies, institutions or design offices in Germany or abroad complements the theoretical content of the course. Students look for a position on their own. The university maintains up-to-date directories of suitable institutions and will gladly accept your inquiry.
