The Arte Laguna Prize (Venice) has now been awarded for the 18th time. In the Special Prize“ category, the Special Mention“ was awarded this year to an alumnus of the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Julian Graeve took part in the competition with his Bachelor’s project from the summer semester 2023 entitled Schmuck fühlen“ (Feeling Jewelry) and was able to convince the Modern and Contemporary Art Association Treviso and Venice, Italy“. He now has the opportunity to exhibit and sell his collection in Venice.

With his collection, Julian Graeve has created jewelry that translates the feeling of being born into the language of design and conveys this feeling through its haptics. For example, the arm jewelry was designed in such a way that it suggests a handshake and triggers a feeling of touch/congeniality in the person wearing it. This feeling, in turn, is associated with the jewelry. The result is a reciprocal effect between the jewelry and the person wearing it.

And this is what the collection looks like:

Julian’s works will be on show and on display at Slovenian Jewelry Week 2024. He prevailed among the competitors and is now part of the Jewelry Week in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Julian himself says: Many greetings and many thanks to my supervisors Prof Matthias Held and Stefanie Schneider, you helped me a lot. Thanks also to Gerd Schmidt for his expert help and to the HfG in general. The great facilities, such as the workshop or the photo studio, have enabled me to achieve great results, products and photos!“

And we say: Congratulations and all the best for your future journey!
