A creative gateway to the city: the new large LED screen on Bahnhofsplatz is now up and running

The HfG is now also visible from the railway station. A modern, large-format LED screen was installed on the façade of the HfG building on the Gamundia site on 30 June 2026. Located directly opposite the main station, the 3.20 m x 4.80 m display now offers travellers, commuters and members of the public arriving in Schwäbisch Gmünd a glimpse into the creative work of the HfG.

The new LED screen serves as a platform for external communication, bringing the HfG’s creative excellence to life in the public space. It is a key channel for promoting the university and its programmes, and for raising its profile through urban branding. In future, it will display event announcements, exhibitions, student projects, important dates and everything else happening at the university.

A project such as the LED wall can only be successfully realised through collaboration and required commitment at many levels. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Marc Guntow for the concept, planning and project supervision, and to GMG Gewerbeimmobilien GmbH & Co. KG and the City of Schwäbisch Gmünd for their support. The LED wall was installed by Win-Screen, a company based in Heilbronn. Internally, the property management team, the data centre, the University Communications Department and many other staff members worked together enthusiastically to bring the LED wall to fruition.

We are delighted that the HfG in Schwäbisch Gmünd can no longer be overlooked!
With the new LED screen at the station, we are creating an innovative link between our range of courses and real life in the urban environment. It is becoming increasingly important that these outstanding programmes are communicated in a way that reflects the times. This modern, dynamic medium is also well suited to embedding the HfG more firmly in the city and enhancing the appeal of the station area.”
